So I am a bit worried about getting replacement headers.

I am not 100% sure if the replacement ones will fit. I also don't know how long it will take but I can wait as I am in no hurry. The company makes great products and they don't lie about how long it takes to make the part but they take forever to get back to emails and calls.

So oppo, how exactly should I talk to the company to get assurance that the next set of headers will fit properly?

You drive a BRZ right? I'm sure it's been discussed on a forum somewhere

It has, only a few people have had this problem and the solution was to double the header gaskets to clear the oil pan. I personally don't want to do that. Also some people have waited 2 months or more for their replacement part.

I would wait for a redesign. Adding 2 header gaskets sounds like a good way to create more work and (unwanted) noise for yourself.

People have tried it with twice the gaskets with no problems but I think it will cause a leak. Also I don't think try are going to redesign as not many people have this problem.

What's so appealing about these specific headers?

Quality, sound, and the make the best gains for UEL. All others don't stand a chance. If I was going EL, I would have gone nameless.

Where ya been!? Haven't seen you in a while

There should be enough reviews on the toyobaru forums to get a general idea of how well the headers fit, and how much of a pain in the ass it is to install them. What brand is the part?

I have been around, mostly working before I go back to school.

In any case, I actually installed te headers and it did take as long as everyone said it would. I think it took us nearly 3 hours, mostly due to one if the pipes has to go between the engine and the sway bars. Real pain. In any case, they sound great!!

Except for one small problem, they just brush the oil pan. Luckily JDL said they would replace it no problem. Now I am worried the next set won't for either, but I am like one of 3 who have this problem so they must have welded it wrong.

Now that you know the story, I was thinking about doubling the header gaskets as some people have done and they have cleared the oil pan. I personally don't want to hit them with a hammer but if it comes to that.

TLDR; headers don't fit, getting new ones and hope they don't do that. Need solution if they do.

Every car has slight variances, and that can make header installs annoying. Not saying they didn't mess up, it all comes from a jig after all.

You have any solutions if they next set have this problem as well?

I don't think I know enough about toyobarus to warrant a suggestion, if its barely hitting the header, a slight ding may be the simplest solution. Its not like it'll impact performance in any noticeable manner

It isn't by much, but it still happens. You think having a tiny dent won't cause problems in the future? I am sure it won't but I am never right.

Thats not even a dent that'd require a ding. No that won't cause any hullabaloo

What does the first sentence mean. Too many words that mean hole.

that much "rubbing" doesn't require a massive dent, just a little ding to make it clear. In other words, it'd be totally irrelevant to any performance loss

You think that the headers being so close to the pan may cause some oil cooling issues or am I just paranoid?

Kinja'd!!! offroadkarter > YSI-what can brown do for you

Engines are hot

Headers are better at getting rid of heat over manifolds

Its not like its wrapped around the oil pan 30 times and glowing red, its barely even making contact with it as is.

Thanks for answering my questions. This is my first car I decided to modify(slowly but surely) so everything I do causes me to worry.
